Christ's Righteousness!

It is a common temptation for me, and I suppose many moms, to seek to establish our own righteousness in regards to child rearing. I find myself sometimes asking, "Am I doing enough to ensure that my kids turn out alright?" The temptation is to think that we can produce kids who are good and who love the Lord by doing all the right things. The problem is that trying to do all the right things actually produces the opposite of what we are trying to achieve; for where the law is, the end result is death. The answer to the above question is "No. I will NEVER be able to do enough." And this is where Christ enters in. He HAS done ALL that is required to ensure our salvation! We accept His grace. Grace filled homes are the ones that "succeed". Isn't that a freeing thought? I can never do enough, but Christ has done all! So stop trying, and start resting! And then your home will be joy-filled, grace-filled, life-filled, and love-filled.

Jana, that reminds me of our conversations yesterday about parenting and homeschooling! I think you sum it up quite nicely here. The Lord is good. Thank you for the reminders!

I agree with you. Too bad, I wasn't taught that as a young christian. Everything was about being a "performance" based christian. God has opened my eyes to His grace. I now look at my grown children that way and pray that they will soon understand His grace and return to Him.
